Shaun Stevens reports: “As some of you are aware, I visited Chris and Jane at Tropiquaria last week. They kindly let me hang around for a few days, (probably getting under their feet
) ), and get close and personal with some of the animals. I can’t thank them enough for the hospitality they showed me. It was also good to meet up with Rick Minter and his family, who appear to be regulars at the park, and I think Ricks kids would live at the park if only their mean old dad would let them.

Rick Minter adds:
Earlier this week I had a splendid time at Tropiquaria with my family, and by coincidence Shaun was there from Scotland, checking especially on Oz the Serval. The improvements that Chris Moiser and Jane are making to Tropiquaria are already evident, and hopefully Oz will have a girlfriend before long, and Tropi might be able to cut thru the bureaucracy and get a Scottish Wildcat or two.
The next day outside the teashop at Winsford in Exmoor four young lasses doing their Duke of Edinburg Award Scheme approached me with clipboards and said as part of their exercise trekking Exmoor they had to do a theme, and theirs was….. ‘What did people think of the Beast of Exmoor and what kind of evidence could there be?’!! We had a 20 mins chat about it all and hopefully they will be taking my advice and looking up the BCIB web site to help them complete their write up. They didn’t know a great deal about it but had enjoyed asking people for views and it was great to see young people enthused by the subject.

I went to Tropiquaria today and I saw Oz the Serval who was looking very distressed and not at all happy. I watched him for about 20 mins and he was pacing up and down in his tiny enclosure. It was quite horrible to watch. He clearly needs more space and a habitat more suited to his species. Hopefully someone will read this and do something to help him.
